Remind Me Dear God when I am lonely, And when I feel despair, Let not my ailing heart forget You hear my every prayer. Remind me that no matter what I do or fail to do, There still is hope for me as long As I have faith in You. Let not my eyes be blinded by Some folly I commit, But help me to regret my wrong And to make up for it. Inspire me to put my fears Upon a hidden shelf, And in the future never to Be sorry for myself. Give me the restful sleep I need Before another dawn And bless me in the morning with The courage to go on. Author unknown A Prayer of Thanksgiving suitable for use at a Pentecost Service. Lord our God, we thank you for all the gifts and blessings your Spirit brings to us. Through your Spirit, hovering over the formless deep, you made creation. Dividing sea from land, day from night, Breathing life into the world, into humanity, made in your image. This same creative Spirit is still active in the world today bringing new life. Lord our God, we thank you for all the gifts and blessings your Spirit brings to us. Through your Spirit you communicated your will, your way to your Chosen People, Through kings and prophets, men and women, old and young. Spirit of the burning bush and pillar of cloud, We thank you for your continuing witness within, your leadership in our lives. Lord our God, we thank you for all the gifts and blessings your Spirit brings to us. Heavenly Father, when we were faithless, you were faithful. You kept your covenant to save and sent your only Son, Jesus Christ into the world. Your Spirit like a dove descended on him at his baptism in the Jordan. Your Spirit anointed him to preach good news to the poor, to proclaim freedom for prisoners, sight for the blind and release for the oppressed. Your Spirits enabled him to teach, to preach, to heal and perform great miracles. This same Spirit enables us, like Jesus, to call you 'Abba', Father. Lord our God, we thank you for all the gifts and blessings your Spirit brings to us. When your Son died on the cross and was raised from the dead, You sent your Spirit on his followers. By your Spirit these frightened, tongue-tied, ordinary men and women became eloquent and courageous preachers and teachers. By your Spirit they had wisdom, knowledge and resources beyond human understanding. We thank you that by your Spirit we too, Frightened, tongue-tied, ordinary men and women may become preachers, teachers, healers, comforters, encourages, and liberators. Lord our God, we thank you for all the gifts and blessings your Spirit brings to us. Prayer of Intercessions from a recent Sunday morning service

Dear heavenly Father we pray to you now for those in our thoughts at this time, in different parts of the world, in this country, in our church community and ourselves.

Dear Lord God in this place of prayer, in peace and quiet, we know very well from our television and newspapers that there are areas in the world where there is no peace, where people are caught up in war, fighting and death, and so many areas where there is no quiet, no resting, always a desperate effort striving for food, water, shelter and medical needs for survival. We pray for them and we pray for the charity agencies who try to relieve suffering. We pray for the families bereaved by war and those injured and those who minister to them in their distress. We pray that governments and leaders will not only see the great tragedy of war but may see the wisdom of negotiating peaceful solutions to the continuing problems.

We pray for our own country where violence and crime is disrupting communities, where quiet enjoyment is being replaced by fear and concern. We pray for those who mourn the loss of their children and relatives in mindless murders and we pray that there may come a revival of community spirit where people accept responsibility and consequences of their own life style and the behaviour and activities of others, as parents or relatives and friends.
,br> We pray for those in our church community who are unwell, lonely, worried about the future, those who mourn the loss of a loved one. Make us sensitive O Lord to the needs of others, help us provide a listening ear, an understanding mind, a sympathetic heart and an encouraging voice to those about us, so we pray that we may be worthy of the name Christian and give us we pray the courage and determination to live our lives to the honour and glory of your Son, Jesus Christ our Lord and Saviour. Amen
